Philanthropist
Schools, mosques and scholarships: wealth turned to the good of people.
Wealth given to people
Having grown rich, Mukhtarov did not shut himself away in luxury. He remembered that he himself had come from a poor family, and he spent his fortune generously on education and faith. He gave scholarships to able young men, sent youth to study, and supported schools and Muslim charity.
A road for the able
Mukhtarov endowed around forty scholarships for the pupils of higher and vocational schools. He knew the value of knowledge — for he had achieved everything without a diploma himself — and wished to open a road for those who had talent but no means. So poor but able young men gained the chance to study.

In Amirjan and Vladikavkaz
With Mukhtarov's funds mosques were built — in his native Amirjan and in distant Vladikavkaz, his wife's homeland. The Amirjan mosque with its tall minarets and the 'Mukhtarov Sunni Mosque' in Vladikavkaz remain monuments to his generosity to this day.
Wife and companion
Mukhtarov's wife was Liza (Elizaveta) Tuganova — an Ossetian of a noble family. She shared her husband's views on charity: with her part the first Female Muslim Philanthropic Society was founded, helping the education of women. Their union was not only love but a shared cause.

He believed that money raised from the earth should return to people — as schools, mosques and the fates of pupils.
